cork

Packaging: Paul Smith for Evian

PS

-1

Following its annual trend in partnerships with Fashion Designers through 2010, Evian has linked up with one of the most creative designers, known for his sense of fun and optimistic attitude – Paul Smith.

The annual Evian designer bottle tradition began in 2008 with a limited edition bottle designed by Christian Lacroix, followed in 2009 with Jean Paul Gaultier.

The new exclusive Evian bottle is designed with a festive theme in vibrant colors - with a nod to the famous Paul Smith stripes - which elegantly underlines the purity of the natural spring water from the French Alps. Miles away from the traditional holiday themes, Evian offers an experience of youth in a multi-colored bottle with five different caps to collect.

Design: All City by Cabracega

All City is an update on the family porcelain by Cabracega, Rita Gonzalez and Ricardo Vasconcelos. Traditional Portuguese porcelain dinnerware is brought into the here and now by using the contemporary urban language of graffiti motifs. Urban artists such as Hium, Mar, Mr. Dheo, Quillograma, and Tosco put their mark on the classical shapes of timeless tableware.

Design: Good Afternoon by Mile Project

mile_good_afternoon.jpg
The Good Afternoon clock by Japan's Mile Project almost gives the impression that time is but a ghost. Narrow rays of light that sneak through small slits in the bezel act as second, minute and hour hands. A great piece if you are already really zen about time, but perhaps nerve-wracking for those in a constant hurry. Yutaka Koyama's mirrors are good for distorting reality when the whole truth proves to be too much, while A/R Studio's Sweethearts coffee set highlights a gentler, kinder reality altogether. And the Wallop by Proudly is a modular hanger system where each section offers hooks that fold out. The sections fit together like puzzle pieces, so that the user is ultimately the creator of the final form. Hang clothes, bags or even light fixtures.

Design: Chain Shoes

chain shoes-4

Swedish design students Tove Jansson and Per Emanuelsson have collaborated to create what they called Chain shoes. A concept based on two very opposite ideas; floating and the restriction of being chained down. They feel like some torture chamber device to me, but brilliant nonetheless. I love to see student work, if you are smart, its the time that you can take advantage of really pushing the envelope to create completely abstract interpretation of conventional projects. And whats the worst that can happen, your instructor disapproves, oh well!

The Chain shoes won the first prize in the “Shoemania” design competition which took place last week in conjunction with the Nordic Shoe and Bag Fair and The Swedish Association of Agents in Stockholm. The jury consisted of Camilla Thulin, fashion designer Henrik Mattsson, art directors Sara Winter and Gilis Hagelin, and L & P Nierenburg.

Packaging: Fresh'n Fruity

FnF_Strawb6pkFnF_Passion6pk

"New Zealand brand design expert, Dow Design, has masterminded the brand platform and new image for Fonterra Brands’ Fresh’n Fruity yoghurt range hitting supermarket chillers next week. While most packaging has a logo and separate imagery, Dow Design has broken new ground by making the logo the actual pack design, with the evolving vines and fruit communicating the personality of each range.

Fonterra’s brief was to create a distinctive and memorable design to differentiate the Fresh’n Fruity brand from competitors. ‘The packaging had to have the personality and attractiveness that is the long established Fresh’n Fruity world,’ says Dow designer Andrew Sparrow.

Bursting with fruit imagery encased in fresh white space, Fresh’n Fruity’s logo has been reworked into a leafy device complete with vines that change to suit the product range. ‘This trademarked imagery will keep Fresh’n Fruity ahead of the pack, while making it easy for yoghurt lovers to find their favourite brand in the supermarket chiller,’ says Andrew.

‘Fresh’n Fruity’s image overhaul is another outstanding example of how Dow’s individual design process connects consumers emotionally with brands to consistently deliver improved performance and sales,’ he explains."

Design de produto: Beautiful Spaghetti Benches

bench_3

bench_2

bench_1

Artistic furniture by Pablo Reinoso. The benches would look great in a contemporary art museum… of course, mainly for viewing purposes then actually sitting on them. I don’t know if these “Spaghetti Benches” are safe for public places, because if someone trips over the ends… yikes!
